Where can I use my NEC

Various national and local services are accessible with the NEC across Scotland.

Local Services

Many Councils across Scotland also offer services such as:

  • library membership;
  • leisure membership;
  • and school services

all on the NEC.

Transport - Free / discounted / concessionary travel on public transport in your local area and across Scotland using your NEC. Can also be used for access to community car clubs such as Co-wheels.
Lifelong Learning - NEC can be used for library membership. Also used as a student matriculation card and services such as printing and photocopying credit or for secure door access control into authorised buildings.
Young Scot - Young Scot NECs allow young people to access a wide range of rewards, discounts and acts as Proof of Age (PASS) for shops and licensed premises.
Culture - Your NEC may be used to take advantage of discounted entry to cultural entitlements.  
Health - Use your NEC for health reward initiatives, such as smoking cessation schemes - "Quit for You" and "Give it Up for Baby". Use your NEC for discounts and for leisure membership.  
Finance - NEC may be used as a cashless payment method to pre-order meals at sheltered housing complexes and cashless catering for pupils to buy schools meals.
Miscellaneous - NECs can be used for many different services. Some areas use NEC as staff identity cards. It may also be used for controlled entry to access buildings as well as work time recording systems.
